חָמָס (ḥāmās) — "violence/injustice" — is the precise word used in Gen 6:11, 13 to describe the corruption that provoked the Flood, framing Nineveh's guilt in antediluvian terms and placing the city under flood-level reckoning. בְּכַפֵּיהֶם ("in/on their palms") makes the violence embodied — it is not abstract wrongdoing but something physically gripped. F.O.G renders "violence that clings to their hands" to preserve this visceral quality; F.O.G Message uses "violence their hands have done" to make the moral accountability equally concrete.
