The pool’s name Shiloach/Siloam (rendered in Greek as ἀπεσταλμένος, “having been sent” — the perfect passive participle of apostellō) is almost certainly a deliberate Johannine echo of Yeshua’s repeated self-identification as the One “sent” by the Father (cf. 5:24; 7:29; 8:42). Sight is received through washing at the pool that bears the name of the One sent from above — a layered theological signature written into the very geography of the miracle.
