The Greek "ἐκ πορνείας οὐ γεγεννήμεθα" ("we were not born of fornication") is almost certainly a veiled counter-attack on Yeshua/Jesus, insinuating the irregular or scandalous circumstances surrounding His birth—a tradition that surfaces explicitly in later rabbinic polemics (Toledot Yeshu). Their emphatic claim to have "one Father—God" both asserts their legitimate covenant standing and deflects Yeshua's/Jesus's accusations back at Him with sharp rhetorical force. FOG preserves the raw word "fornication" (πορνεία = sexual immorality, specifically illicit union) to let the insinuation stand in full, unfiltered relief; FOG Message renders it "illegitimate children" to make the social and legal meaning immediately clear to modern readers.
