ζωὴν αἰώνιον (zōēn aiōnion) derives from αἰών (aiōn, "age/era") and means more precisely "life belonging to the age to come." The FOG renders "age-enduring life" to preserve that eschatological texture; the FOG Message uses the familiar "eternal life." Equally significant: μεταβέβηκεν (metabebēken) is perfect tense — "has already crossed over" — signalling a completed transition. Eternal life and freedom from judgment are present possessions, not merely future hopes. This is John's realized eschatology at its sharpest.
