"Doing the truth" (ποιῶν τὴν ἀλήθειαν, poiōn tēn alētheian) is a Semitic idiom — in Hebrew עֹשֵׂה אֱמֶת (oseh emet) means to act faithfully, with integrity and covenantal fidelity. It is not merely holding correct beliefs but living in active alignment with reality as God defines it. The F.O.G preserves the striking idiom "does the truth"; the F.O.G Message renders it as "lives by the truth," conveying the embodied, habitual quality of the phrase to an English ear.
