Mary's use of "we do not know" (οὐκ οἴδαμεν) is a plural, implying she was not alone at the tomb — consistent with the Synoptic accounts (cf. Luke 24:10). Also notable: the Greek verb describing the beloved disciple's love here is φιλέω (phileō) rather than ἀγαπάω (agapaō); within John's Gospel these verbs appear to function interchangeably (cf. 21:15–17) and carry no theological distinction here.
