John's note that it was "still dark" (σκοτίας ἔτι οὔσης) is more than atmospheric — throughout this Gospel, darkness represents active opposition to the Light of the world (1:5; 3:19; 13:30). The "first day of the week" (μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων) simultaneously echoes the first day of creation, quietly framing the resurrection as the inauguration of new creation. The FOG preserves the plain temporal reading; the FOG Message holds both registers in its opening rhythm.
