Footnotes
"Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, γύναι" is a Semitic idiom rooted in the Hebrew מַה-לִּי וָלָךְ (mah li walakh), used throughout the Tanakh to mark a relational boundary or register distance from another's concern (cf. Judg 11:12; 2 Sam 16:10; 1 Kgs 17:18) — it is not hostile, but it signals that Yeshua/Jesus is operating on a different register; "γύναι" (woman) was a respectful, even dignified form of address in Greek (cf. John 20:13; 19:26), never a cold dismissal, so the F.O.G preserves its directness while the F.O.G Message adds "Dear" to recover its warmth for modern ears; "ἡ ὥρα μου" (my hour) is a key Johannine theological marker pointing forward to the crucifixion (cf. 7:30; 8:20; 12:23; 13:1; 17:1) — this is its first appearance in the Gospel, and it governs everything that follows.
