παρὰ σεαυτῷ — "alongside/in the presence of Yourself" — παρά with the dative implies intimate proximity. The pre-existence claim is explicit: πρὸ τοῦ τὸν κόσμον εἶναι = "before the world came into being," creating a deliberate bracket with the prologue's "In the beginning was the Word" (1:1–2).
