The double ἀμὴν ἀμήν is unique to the Gospel of John among all four Gospels—the Synoptics use only a single ἀμήν, and no other speaker in the New Testament employs the formula. It functions as a solemn self-authorising oath, the functional equivalent of the prophetic 'Thus says YHWH,' asserting that what follows carries divine rather than merely human authority. The F.O.G preserves the Hebraic transliteration 'Amen, amen'; the F.O.G Message renders it as 'Truly, truly' as the established liturgical equivalent in English.
