Three pivotal choices converge here. First, ἐσκήνωσεν (from σκηνή, "tent/tabernacle") is the precise language of the Mosaic Tabernacle—YHWH's glory dwelling in a portable tent among Israel in the wilderness (Exod 40:34–35); the F.O.G's "pitched His tent" makes the typology audible while the F.O.G Message's "made His dwelling" reaches for the same resonance more gracefully. Second, χάρις καὶ ἀλήθεια is John's Greek rendering of the Hebrew pair חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת (hesed ve-emet)—the covenant-loyalty and faithfulness YHWH proclaimed at Sinai (Exod 34:6); the F.O.G recovers that covenantal flavour while the F.O.G Message retains the Graeco-Christian "grace and truth." Third, μονογενής means not only "only-begotten" but "one-of-a-kind, unique"—both versions reach toward this incomparable singularity.
