The final half-verse is notoriously ambiguous: *ki lo ken anokhi imadi* can mean 'for I am not so within myself' (i.e., I do not have the inner resources to face Him), or 'for it is not so between us' (i.e., the mediator does not exist). Both readings carry the same desolation: Job knows what he needs, he can name it (*mokhiach*, verse 33), but he cannot produce it. The chapter thus ends on a note of longing that the rest of the book will orbit until the whirlwind of chapter 38—and which the New Covenant declares answered in the person of Yeshua/Jesus. FOG renders the personal inward meaning; FOG Message opens outward to the relational void between Job and God.
