*Tam* (תָּם), "blameless" or "whole/complete," is the precise word used of Job himself in 1:1, 1:8, and 2:3 — where YHWH twice boasts of His servant Job that there is none like him, "a tam and upright man." Bildad's argument thus contains a devastating irony he cannot see: if El will not reject the *tam*, and Job is genuinely *tam*, then Bildad's entire retribution framework collapses. The word will resonate throughout the book until YHWH's verdict in 42:7–8 vindicates Job and censures the friends. FOG retains "blameless" as the closest single-word equivalent; FOG Message uses "integrity" to draw out the moral completeness the word implies.
