The granting of *nachalah* (inheritance) to daughters alongside living male heirs is legally extraordinary. Under standard ancient Near Eastern convention and biblical precedent, daughters inherited only in the complete absence of sons (cf. Num. 27:8, the daughters of Zelophehad, who had to petition for the right). Job grants his daughters a full share *among* their brothers without compulsion, without petition, and without comment — an act of radical, counter-cultural generosity. The text presents this as simply part of the picture of *shalom* restored, as if the new world Job inhabits runs by different rules than the broken one he suffered through.
