The verb *יִסְכָּן* (yiskan) derives from a root meaning 'to be of use, to serve, to profit'—carrying both economic and relational weight. The suffix *לָךְ* ('to You') shows Job is addressing God directly, as if querying the divine return on investment from human righteousness. *מֵחַטָּאתִי* ('over/more than my sin') implies: what do I gain by being righteous rather than sinful? Elihu hears Job reducing covenant faithfulness to a profit-and-loss ledger.
