Two rich Hebrew words converge here. חֹרֶף (*choref*) can mean 'autumn' or 'harvest season'—the time of fullness before winter's stripping; FOG renders it 'harvest-prime'; FOG Message smooths it to 'ripened years.' More significant is סוֹד (*sod*)—not merely 'friendship' but the intimate inner council of trusted confidants, the deliberative circle where secrets are shared. When YHWH reveals His סוֹד to the prophets (Amos 3:7; Jer. 23:18), this is the word. Job is claiming he once sat inside that circle. FOG: 'intimate counsel'; FOG Message: 'warm intimacy of God's own counsel'—both reach for what the English word 'friendship' alone cannot hold.
