Footnotes
Enosh is the Hebrew word for humanity in its frailty and mortality—distinct from adam (humankind) or ish (a man of standing). Its use here is pointed: Bildad strips Job of dignity by invoking his creaturely weakness. Yitzdak (be righteous/justified) uses the same tsadak root that underpins Job's legal claim to vindication—Bildad weaponises Job's own forensic language against him. Yelud ishah (born of woman) deliberately echoes Job's own words in 14:1 ('Man born of woman is short of days'), turning Job's lament into a weapon. F.O.G. translates enosh as frail man to maintain the Hebraic distinction between mortal frailty and general humanity; F.O.G.M. uses 'mortal man' and 'found clean' to sharpen the judicial register.
