*Alumav* is ambiguous: it can mean 'his youth/youthful vigour' (from *elem*, young man) or 'his hidden sins' (from *alam*, to conceal). The KJV reads 'the sin of his youth,' and that reading is exegetically viable — his secret transgressions are buried in his very bones. FOG adopts 'vigour' as the more contextually natural reading (the chapter is about futility, not merely guilt), while leaving room for the double meaning. FOG Message draws out the tragedy: even vitality is ultimately swallowed by death.
