*Sod* ("council/secret assembly") refers to the divine council—the heavenly court of YHWH surrounded by His celestial beings (see 1 Kings 22:19; Psalm 82:1; Jeremiah 23:18). To be in the *sod* was to have access to God's innermost deliberative counsel. Eliphaz's sarcasm is that only someone who had stood in that council could speak with Job's authority. The reader's dramatic irony is acute: chapters 1–2 reveal that the *sod* is precisely where Job's fate was determined—making Eliphaz's taunt backfire with devastating theological force. FOG renders "secret council"; FOG Message renders "inner council chamber" to evoke the intimacy of *sod*.
