I have leaned in close and listened—and what I hear is all wrong. Not one of them turns back from their wrongdoing to ask, 'What have I done?' Every last one rushes forward like a warhorse, headlong into the charge.
I have listened carefully and heard—they do not speak rightly. Not one man repents of his evil, saying, 'What have I done?' Each of them charges ahead on their own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.
I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
