Footnotes

This date — the tenth of the fifth month — differs from 2 Kings 25:8, which records the seventh day. Both are authentic traditions: the seventh day may mark when Babylonian forces breached the temple complex, and the tenth when the fire finished consuming it. The Mishnah (Ta'anit 4:6) reconciles the accounts by treating the destruction as a protracted catastrophe, ultimately commemorated on the ninth of Av (Tisha B'Av). Both FOG and FOG Message follow the Jeremiah text.
