The answer to 'why?' is not theological abstraction but covenantal consequence — the punishment mirrors the crime. Serving *zarim* (foreigners/strangers) in exile is the direct counterpart to serving *elohim zarim* (foreign/strange gods) at home. FOG preserves 'foreign' as the connecting verbal thread; FOG Message emphasises the poetic justice of the reversal.
