The four locations trace a geographic arc from the northeastern border of Egypt (Migdol) through the Nile Delta (Tahpanes, Noph/Memphis) into Upper Egypt (Patros/Pathros)—the dispersal is total, not partial. *Noph* (Hebrew נֹף) is the biblical name for Memphis, Egypt's ancient capital.
