שׁוֹפָר (shofar) — the ram's horn — is preserved in FOG: it is not merely a military instrument but carries liturgical and prophetic weight, announcing war, divine judgment, and sacred assembly (cf. Num. 10; Joel 2:1). FOG Message uses "trumpet" for accessibility. More critically, the people's three-fold fantasy — no war, no alarm, no famine — is a direct inversion of the covenant curses of Deuteronomy 28:25–48. In seeking Egypt as a refuge, they ironically choose to return to the land of their original bondage, reversing the Exodus itself — a typological resonance FOG Message draws to the surface.
