*Derek hayyim ve-derek hammavet* (דֶּרֶךְ הַחַיִּים וְדֶרֶךְ הַמָּוֶת) directly echoes the Deuteronomic covenant: 'See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil' (Deut. 30:15). What was once Israel's founding election-choice now becomes a siege-time ultimatum: surrender and live, resist and die. The Way of Life is capitulation to Bavel — every patriotic and military instinct inverted. FOG retains the formal *hinneh* ('Behold') to preserve the weight of divine announcement; FOG Message uses 'See' for natural urgency.
