The תֹּפֶת (*Topheth*) was the cultic installation within Ge Ben-Hinnom where children were burned; the name may derive from a root meaning "fire-place" or "hearth," though later scribal tradition may have substituted the vowels of בֹּשֶׁת (*bosheth*, shame) as a polemical defacement. Its renaming to גֵּיא הַהֲרֵגָה (*Ge HaHaregah*, Valley of Slaughter) is a dark covenantal reversal: the place where Yisra'el slaughtered its children will become the place where Yisra'el is slaughtered. Divine justice mirrors the crime in kind. Both FOG and FOG Message retain "Topheth" and "Valley of Ben-Hinnom" as untranslated proper names, with FOG preserving the fuller Hebraic valley name.
