The word *sheruqat* — rendered 'horror' and 'shock and scorn' — literally refers to a hissing or whistling sound: the sharp intake of breath or shrill whistle made when confronted with total desolation. It is a sound of horrified contempt. The shaking of the head (*vayaned bero'sho*) is a well-attested ancient Near Eastern gesture combining mourning with derision — grief and dismissal at once. FOG's 'everlasting horror' leans into the visceral shock; FOG Message's 'shock and scorn' captures the dual emotional register of the Hebrew gesture.
