It is Jean Paul's lifelong work, unfolding in public — and you're invited in.

He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

*Hebel* (breath/vapor/vanity) is the same word Qohelet wields relentlessly in Ecclesiastes ('vanity of vanities'). It denotes the brief, weightless puff of breath visible on a cold morning — fundamental insubstantiality. More pointedly, Jeremiah uses *huqqot* (customs/statutes) — the very term for Torah-statutes — to describe pagan ritual, a devastating irony: Israel is trading its life-giving *huqqot* of YHWH for the vaporous *huqqot* of the nations. FOG renders *hebel* as 'breath and nothing' to capture its physical lightness; FOG Message uses 'pure vapor' to land the emotional impact.
