Footnotes
Verse 2 extends the simile of v. 1 and reaches back to the Sinai theophany (Exod. 19), where fire, smoke, and violent trembling accompanied YHWH's descent. The tinder-and-water imagery conveys both consuming destruction and unstoppable, spreading power. The purpose clause *lehodi'a shimkha* ('to make Your name known') anchors this cosmic spectacle in covenant mission: divine self-disclosure as the goal of theophanic terror. FOG preserves 'seethe and boil' for visceral immediacy; FOG Message draws out the evangelistic and eschatological weight of the nations trembling at the revealed Name.
