Footnotes
The title *betulat bat-Bavel* ('virgin daughter of Babylon') is ironic — not a compliment but a taunt. She is 'virgin' in the sense of never having been conquered or violated; that inviolable status is about to end. *Rakkah va'anugah* ('tender and pampered') describes the luxurious, sheltered life of the imperial elite — the identical word-pair appears in Deut. 28:56 of the refined woman who falls under covenant curse, embedding Babylon's fall in the language of Israel's own judgment warnings. FOG preserves the Hebraic city names; FOG Message uses the traditional English equivalents.
