Not one of them stops to think — no one has the knowledge or understanding to say, 'I burned half of it in the fire and baked bread over its coals. I roasted meat and ate it. Shall I make what's left into something detestable? Shall I bow down before a block of wood?'
No one reflects on this — no one has the knowledge or discernment to say, 'Half of it I burned in the fire; I even baked bread over its coals, roasted meat and ate. Shall I make the rest an abomination? Shall I bow down to a log of wood?'
And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
And no one considers in his heart, no one has the knowledge or insight to say, “I burned half of it in the fire, and I baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make something detestable with the rest of it? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
