*Ruach YHWH* (רוּחַ יְהוָה) is simultaneously "the breath," "the wind," and "the Spirit" of YHWH — the same word for all three. The hot sirocco wind that scorches vegetation across the Levant is the concrete material reality behind the image, while the divine breath that gives and withdraws life hovers over the text. FOG preserves the ambiguity with "breath"; FOG Message also uses "breath" to keep the personal, intimate quality of divine agency.
