*Nesa avon* (נְשֻׂא עָוֹן, 'lifted/borne iniquity') uses the verb *nasa* (נָשָׂא, 'to bear, carry, lift away') — the exact verb of Isaiah 53:4 ('He has borne our griefs') and 53:12 ('He bore the sin of many'). The healing of sickness and the bearing away of sin are inseparably linked here, as in Psalm 103:3 ('who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases'). The chapter ends on its eschatological crescendo: YHWH the Judge, Lawgiver, and King (v.22) who saves (*yoshienu*) will, through His Servant, *bear* the very iniquity that causes all suffering and sickness. FOG renders 'iniquity lifted' to preserve the *nasa* root and its Isaiah 53 resonance; FOG Message reads 'carried away' to make the atonement dynamic explicit.
