The doubled verb יַשְׁפִּילֶנָּה יַשְׁפִּילֶנָּה (*yashpilenna yashpilenna*—"He lays it low, lays it low") is emphatic Hebrew repetition conveying the totality and finality of the collapse. The קִרְיָה נִשְׂגָּבָה (*kiryah nishgavah*, fortified/exalted city) mirrors the עִיר עָז (*ir az*, strong city) of v.1—the contrast is deliberate: the city that builds on human strength falls, while the city whose walls are *yeshuah* stands. Both translations attempt to echo the doubling, FOG with repetition of "lays low" and FOG Message with the descending rhythm "down to the earth, down to the very dust."
