רֻבֵּי (rubbe, "ten thousands/myriads") is a staggering number—the sheer abundance of divine instruction makes Israel's dismissal all the more culpable. זָר (zar, "stranger/foreign thing") is the word for someone utterly outside the covenant community—what Yahweh intended as the most intimate covenant charter is treated as alien law. The theological devastation: Israel has become a stranger to the very document of its own identity.
