The Hebrew employs a devastating wordplay: מִזְבְּחוֹת לַחֲטֹא…מִזְבְּחוֹת לַחֲטֹא. The preposition לְ before חַטָּאת can mean "to atone for sin" (purification offering) or "to commit sin"—altars built to remedy guilt became the engines of further guilt. The means of reconciliation turned toxic. The FOG preserves the flat repetition to let the irony land; the FOG Message sharpens the inversion explicitly.
