πνεύματος αἰωνίου ("eternal Spirit") is a uniquely freighted phrase found nowhere else in Scripture. Most interpreters identify this as the Holy Spirit — the divine agent by which Messiah's self-offering was made — linking His sacrifice to the full Godhead; some read it as Messiah's own eternal divine spirit. Either way, the phrase contrasts the permanent, age-transcending nature of this offering with time-bound Levitical rites. συνείδησιν ("conscience") reappears from v.9: where animal blood could only cleanse the flesh, Messiah's blood reaches the inner sanctuary of the human person, liberating it from the deadweight of "dead works" — observances severed from living faith.
