Hōs épos eipein = "so to speak / as one might say" — a classical Greek hedging phrase used when a speaker knows the argument is venturing out onto a limb. The author signals awareness that he is making a corporate typological argument (Levi being seminally present in Avraham), not a literal claim. Both translations preserve this careful hedge.
