Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. His very name tells a story: first, "King of Righteousness," and then also "King of Salem" — that is to say, "King of Peace."
To him Avraham also apportioned a tenth of everything. His name, first by interpretation, means "King of Righteousness," and then also king of Shalem—that is, "King of Shalom."
