Vayemoded derives from madad ("to measure"), suggesting God surveying and claiming dominion over the earth — which the F.O.G retains. In context, however, the earth's seismic response favours a sense of reeling or shaking, which the F.O.G Message follows. Halichot olam lo yields two valid readings: "ancient ways are His" (the F.O.G — His warrior character is primordial) or "His ways are everlasting" (the F.O.G Message — His acts of salvation never end); both affirm that this theophany is not a new departure but an eternal constant.
