שִׁבְעָה שִׁבְעָה אִישׁ וְאִשְׁתּוֹ (shivah shivah ish v'ishto) — the distributive repetition ("seven seven") combined with "a man and his woman/wife" strongly indicates seven pairs (14 animals), not merely seven individuals. The clean/unclean distinction here anticipates Levitical categories (Lev 11), implying these ritual distinctions predate Sinai and are rooted in creation order.
