הַמַּשְׁבִּיר (ha-Mashbir) = "the grain-dispenser/grain-master" — a participial title from the root שׁבר (to break/sell grain), designating Joseph's official role. More significantly, the prostration — אַפַּיִם אָרְצָה, "faces to the ground" — directly and silently fulfils Joseph's first dream (Gen. 37:7), where his brothers' sheaves bowed to his. The narrator makes no comment; the image lands without fanfare, which is its own kind of thunder.
