Jacob named the place Peniel — "Face of God" — saying, "I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been spared."
Ya'akov named that place Peni'el, saying, "For I have seen Elohim face to face, and yet my very being was delivered alive."
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
So Jacob named the place Peniel, saying, “Indeed, I have seen God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”
