Jacob kept the lambs separate and had the rest of the flock face toward the striped and dark animals in Laban's flocks. In this way he built up his own flocks separately, never mixing them with Laban's.
Ya'akov separated the lambs and turned the faces of the flock toward the striped and all the dark animals in Lavan's flock. He set his own herds apart and did not put them with Lavan's flock.
And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle.
Jacob set apart the young, but made the rest face the streaked dark-colored sheep in Laban’s flocks. Then he set his own stock apart and did not put them with Laban’s animals.
