"Vaye'ehaveha" = "and he loved her" — placed after the marriage, love is its fruit, not its precondition. The placement is quietly extraordinary in an ancient patriarchal narrative where arranged marriages were transactional. "Vayinachem" = "and he was comforted" — from the root nacham, the same root as Noah's name and Isaiah's "consolations." The grief of Sarah's death (Gen 23) finds its resolution here: Rebekah becomes not only wife but living consolation to a son who loved his mother deeply. The chapter ends as it opened — with blessing, fullness, and covenant continuity secured.
