Footnotes
Sodom and Gomorrah appear here in a purely geographic boundary description, well before the dramatic narratives of Genesis 13–19. Their quiet inclusion functions as a narrative anchor: these cities are Canaanite soil, and their notorious wickedness (Gen 13:13; 18:20) is rooted in the cursed lineage of Canaan (Gen 9:25). Their later destruction is thus not an arbitrary catastrophe but a covenantal judgment upon a specifically named territory.
