ἐξεπτύσατε (exeptysate) — literally "you did not spit out" — preserves an ancient apotropaic reflex: in the Greco-Roman and Jewish world, spitting was a protective gesture when encountering someone believed to be under divine judgment or the evil eye (baskania). Visible illness was routinely read as a curse, and the instinctive response was to spit to ward off contamination of bad fortune. The Galatians' refusal to spit was therefore a socially costly act of embrace. FOG "spat out" preserves the visceral cultural gesture literally; FOG Message "revulsion" communicates its emotional reality to modern readers. Additionally, ἄγγελον θεοῦ (angelon theou) — FOG "messenger of Elohim" holds the ambiguity of angelos (both messenger and angel); FOG Message "angel of God" draws the supernatural register to its full height.
