Footnotes
ἐπάθετε (epathete) is genuinely ambiguous: it can mean to "suffer" (passive, painful) or to "experience" (neutral or positive). Given the context of receiving the Ruach and witnessing miracles in vv. 2–5, Paul may have positive spiritual experiences in mind. The F.O.G.M renders the neutral "experience," preserving that openness; the F.O.G uses "suffered," the majority reading, which sharpens the emotional charge of Paul's rebuke.
