The verb κεχάρισται (kecharistai) is derived from χάρις (charis, "grace" or "gift freely given"). Paul is not merely saying God "gave" the inheritance — He gave it as an act of charis, freely and without obligation. The F.O.G renders "graciously gave" and the F.O.G Message "freely gave," both drawing on the charis root, placing the gift in deliberate contrast to the transactional logic of law-merit.
