Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
When these matters had been dealt with, the leaders drew near to me and said, 'The people of Yisra'el, the kohanim and the Levi'im have not set themselves apart from the peoples of the lands — following their abominations: those of the Kena'ani, the Hitti, the Perizzi, the Yevusi, the Amoni, the Mo'avi, the Mitzri and the Emori.'
When these things had been completed, the leaders came to me with alarming news: 'The people of Israel — priests and Levites included — have not separated themselves from the peoples of the surrounding lands, but have followed their detestable practices: those of the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites.'
After these things had been accomplished, the leaders approached me and said, “The people of Israel, including the priests and Levites, have not kept themselves separate from the surrounding peoples whose abominations are like those of the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites.
